Hey everyone! Welcome to the Wufoo Blog! We’re not exactly sure what’s going to be going on in this space, but we’re pretty excited about it nonetheless. What we do know is that this will be a space where you can get official news on Wufoo’s development and also about how you can get the most out of your Wufoo experience. Yes, there will be some behind-the-scenes stuff. And yes, it’s going to be a lot of fun.

Great stuff! I’m impressed with what you have created so far and am keen to figure out how I can make use of this elegant system. One thing I see that seems to be missing is what exactly can people do with their data that they collect through your forms. Reports etc are great but it would be fantastic to be able to, say, send an email (newsletters etc) to all entries that meet certain criteria for example. Fields could be inserted as dynamic data, too.
This would mean that it would have functionality somewhat like Campaign Monitor I guess but I think wufoo is ultimately more flexible as it is not limited to this.
Anyway, keep up the great work and I’d love a response on how I can do something like this if possible.

Hey Galen – we’re actually looking into the various API’s of different mailing programs, such as Campaign Monitor. We would not want to replace their service, but instead work with them to provide the type of functionality you’re looking for. wufoo is not capable of that yet, but it is on our minds.

Looked around in your FAQs, but could not find an answer to my question hence
could you please tell me how long, i.e. how many chars. or kb of text can be put into a “paragraph text” and what is the maximum number of paragraph text boxes permissible per form (I was thinking about receiving CVs and the data of each could be several pages long)
Each paragraph text field can currently hold over a million letters, but we may actually have to drop that down to 65,000 for performance issues. You can put 10 fields on a form with the free acocunt, and approximately 100 on paid, depending on the field type.

At 65k the wufoo form would seem to be a tad disfunctional and there is the competion out thar that loves to pint out shortcomings of others.. but hey, wufoos, its your show and it’s up to you.

Thanks for your feedback. It definitely helps to understand how people are using the forms.
I’m curious, would 65k characters really not be enough? If the average word were 5 characters, that would be 13,000 words per textarea.

Thanks for the reply. Instead of mailing list functionality, is it at least possible to export the records that have been received through on of your forms in, say, a CSV file?

Posted July 3rd, 2006 by Galen.Galen – In order to export entries, you need to make a report first. Once you make a report, you will see the Report Manager, which looks similar to the Form Manager. From there, click the link that says “Export.”

Posted July 3rd, 2006 by Ryan Campbell.Hi Ryan, many thanks for your response. I’ve set up the first live form (at http://www.wildhealth.co.nz) and it seems to be working great. Got a sign-up literally within five minutes of putting it online. The reports are fantastic, too! There are a couple of bugs, it seems, but I have filed a bug report which will hopefully sort that out.
I really am impressed with what you folks have created here!
